Female rocker Lita Ford bares soul in memoir
Lita Ford, the lead guitarist from the 1970s all-female band the Runaways, comes to Naperville this week with her new memoir, "Living Like a Runaway."
The rock goddess-turned-author will appear at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at North Central College's Meiley-Swallow Hall, 31 S. Ellsworth St., Naperville. Tickets are required and available exclusively at litafordandersons.brownpapertickets.com. For information, contact Anderson's Bookshop at (630) 355-2665 or andersonsbookshop.com.
Joining Ford onstage will be moderator Scott Itter, music journalist, columnist at Positively Naperville, and founder of the Dr. Music website, drmusic.org. Itter will discuss with Ford some of her stories and insights. Following their chat, Ford will take a few questions from the audience, then sign books.
Ford's memoir is her story of living her dream as a rocker in a world of men: her ambitions, her persistence and the lessons learned. Called "heavy metal's leading female rocker" by Rolling Stone, Ford opens up about the '70s and '80s music scene and her trailblazing life as the lead guitarist of the Runaways and her platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated solo career. Hailed as "the mother of all metal" by the Los Angeles Times and "one of the greatest female electric guitar players to ever pick up the instrument" by Elle, Ford bares her soul in "Living Like a Runaway."
She now lives in Hollywood, California.
