Stamp marking Indiana's bicentennial set for June release
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The U.S. Postal Service stamp commemorating Indiana's bicentennial of statehood will be released in June.
Postal officials say the Indiana statehood stamp will be issued during a June 7 ceremony at the Statehouse in Indianapolis.
The image on the stamp showing a sunset over a northern Indiana cornfield comes from a photograph by Milford native Michael Matti. He took the picture on a dirt road just off Indiana 15 in Kosciusko (kaws-ee-AWS'-koh) County.
The postage stamp comes as numerous events and activities are planned around Indiana this year to mark its 200th anniversary of statehood. Indiana became the nation's 19th state on Dec. 11, 1816.
