A woman who Elgin police say was angered about comments posted on social media faces battery and robbery charges after punching a man in the face and stealing his phone, according to a news release. Julieta Moncada was arrested at her home. Full story.
Charges against Aurora alderman upgraded
Charges against an Aurora City Council member accused of stealing from a Meijer store in her ward for the second time since 2013 have been upgraded to burglary. Tenth Ward Alderman Lynne M. Johnson, 51, posted $5,000 bond yesterday and was released. She's accused of stealing $55.21 worth of various makers, pencils, party favors and ibuprofen on Jan. 31. Full story.
Lisle, Naperville cops warn of fake IRS calls
Lisle and Naperville police are warning residents about scam artists who are placing telephone calls purporting to be from the Internal Revenue Service and demanding taxes and penalties be paid. Police say the IRS will not call requesting any account numbers that would identify you. Full story.
School board to discuss Barrington High start times tonight
The Barrington Area Unit School District 220 board will meet tonight to again discuss options for moving back the start of classes at Barrington High School to give students more time to sleep.
