Westminster Christian to put on 'Our Town' March 4-5

Westminster Christian School will present "Our Town" at 7 p.m. Friday, March 4, and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at the school, 2700 W. Highland Ave. in Elgin.

"Our Town" is a 1938 three-act play by American playwright Thornton Wilder. It tells the story of the fictional American small town of Grover's Corners between 1901 and 1913 through the everyday lives of its citizens.

Wilder uses meta-theatrical devices setting the play in the actual theater where it is being performed. The main character is the stage manager of the theater who directly addresses the audience, brings in guests lecturers, fields questions from the audience, and fills in playing some of the roles. The play is performed without a set and the actors mime their actions without the use of props.

Tickets are $5 to $8. Order tickets through www.tix.com and search "Our Town."
