University of Tulsa Hall of Famer Steve Harris dies at 52
TULSA, Okla. (AP) - The University of Tulsa says TU Hall of Fame basketball player Steve Harris has died.
The school says Harris died Monday after a lengthy illness.
Harris played at TU from 1981-85 and was from Blue Springs, Missouri. He set the Golden Hurricane scoring record with 2,272 points that was later broken by current Tulsa assistant coach Shea Seals.
Harris was a first round NBA draft choice by the Houston Rockets in 1985 and also played for Golden State, Detroit and the Los Angeles Clippers before retiring in 1991.
Harris lived in Broken Arrow with his wife and two children.
The university said funeral services are pending.
