No injuries in downtown Lake Zurich fire

Fire caused an estimated $10,000 in damage to a downtown Lake Zurich building Saturday morning, possibly due to discarded smoking material, officials said. No injuries to firefighters or residents were reported. Crews were dispatched to a structure fire at 16 E. Main St., where occupants reported smoke coming through the floor of a second-floor living area. Firefighters arrived in about 4 minutes and immediately found a slight haze throughout the first floor and smoke building from an exterior doorway on the second floor. One crew reported finding discarded smoking material in the threshold of the second floor doorway. Lake Zurich reported receiving assistance from the Barrington, Barrington-Countryside, Long Grove, Lincolnshire and Wauconda fire departments.
