Antioch advances to 3A sectional

Antioch's girls basketball team earned a spot in the Class 3A St. Viator girls basketball sectional semifinals by topping Marian Central 57-45 on Friday night in regional championship play at Woodstock North.

The Sequoits' Ashley Reiser led all scorers with 22 points, and she earned herself a double-double by nabbing 11 rebounds in the paint.

Maddy Murillo gathered a team-high 14 rebounds and scored 9 points for Antioch, Amy Reiser scored 16 points and contributed 8 steals, and Alexis Duehr contributed 9 points thanks to three 3-pointers.

Coach Tim Borries credited sophomore Taylor Feltner for hustle plays off the bench that helped Antioch take control in the fourth quarter after what had a been a close game all along.

Antioch (26-5) meets St. Viator at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Cahill Gymnasium in Arlington Heights.
