Indianapolis airport delays vote on development of terminal

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Indianapolis Airport Authority has delayed action on a $500 million development of the former terminal after concerns it was moving too quickly.

The proposal is for Athletes Business Network to build a sports medical complex, hotels and a 20,000-seat sports arena.

Kelly Flynn is president of the airport authority's board of directors. He tells the Indianapolis Star (http://indy.st/1Q80LC1 ) that he delayed a vote Friday because of calls from county officials and the community seeking more information.

He added that Mayor Joe Hogsett's recent appointee to the board, Barbara Glass, wants more time for study.

Some community leaders and elected officials are skeptical Athletes Business Network has the financial backing and expertise for such a project.

Company officials say their plan is solid and are disappointed by the delay.
