Vote delayed on Indianapolis sports medical complex proposal

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Indianapolis Airport Authority board has delayed a vote on a proposed $500 million sports medical complex on unused land at Indianapolis International Airport.

The vote had been set to take place Friday on the proposal announced earlier this week that calls for a sports-centered medical complex, hotels and a stadium. The Airport Authority said Thursday evening that it had removed an agenda item from its board meeting calling for approving a letter of intent with the developer to negotiate a contract and lease.

In a statement, the Airport Authority said it delayed the vote to "further process community feedback and have additional conversations." It said it had heard from some in the community asking for more conversations.

Airport Authority executive director Mario Rodriguez has said the development would be privately financed and no subsidies are being sought.
