Human trafficking seminar

State Rep. Barbara Wheeler of Crystal Lake and Refuge for Women will host a special human trafficking awareness seminar Wednesday, Feb. 24, 7 to 9 p.m., at Lundahl Middle School, 560 Nash Road, Crystal Lake. The seminar will focus on the affects human trafficking has on youth, such as the dangers of social media. It will also highlight methods parents and the community can use to spot the signs of exploitation and prevent youth from being taken advantage of by predators. The seminar will include the screening of the documentary "Chosen," and feature presenters from Refuge for Women, the Willow Creek Anti Trafficking Ministry, the McHenry County State's Attorney's office and a criminal defense attorney.
