Balanced effort lifts Hersey

Hersey's boys basketball team wrapped up its Mid-Suburban East slate with a 74-58 victory over visiting Rolling Meadows on Friday.

Balance was key for the Huskies (13-12, 6-4), who had four players score in double figures and another with 9 points on their way to a third-place finish in the division.

Zack Cooper led the way with a game-high 25 points. Joe Coffaro and Buzz Lindgren had 12 apiece, Mark Milligan scored 11 and Kevin Starr had 9.

Junior forward Jared Murphy led Rolling Meadows (7-17, 3-7) with 22 points.

St. Viator 55, St. Patrick 33: With four teams tied for third place in the East Suburban Catholic Conference entering Friday's action, the Lions picked up a victory against one of those teams.

Visiting St. Viator improved to 17-6 overall and 5-3 in the league with a victory at Kurland Court, while St. Patrick dropped to 13-13 and 4-4.

Deerfield 66, Maine West 39: In a Central Suburban North finale, visiting Deerfield clinced the divisional championship.

The No. 2 seed in the upcoming Glenbrook South sectional improved to 24-3 overall and 9-1 in the CSL North, while Maine West slipped to 5-21 and 2-8.
