Naperville pedestrian dies after being struck by car

A 49-year-old Naperville man who was struck by a car Wednesday afternoon while crossing Washington Street near Bailey Road has died, authorities said Thursday.

Naperville police said Jeffrey Maxwell died of his injuries about 8 p.m. Wednesday at Edward Hospital. No citations have been issued and police said the investigation is continuing.

The crash occurred about 1:20 p.m. when Maxwell was crossing the street and was struck by a northbound red 2004 Lincoln LS driven by a 60-year-old Plainfield man. Maxwell was taken to Edward by Naperville paramedics.
