Officials ID Burlington Twp. man found dead Sunday

A Burlington Township man found dead Sunday in his home has been identified, officials said.

Kane County sheriff's deputies and members of the Burlington Community Fire Protection District responded to a home in unincorporated Burlington Township around 3:30 a.m. to find Jeffery Rak, 58, dead inside, authorities said.

Sheriff's deputies found evidence indicating there may have been a struggle inside the home, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. However, the public is not in danger, officials said.

A person of interest was taken into custody but has since been released without charges, officials said.

A death investigation is being conducted by the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force.
