Dortmund signs Spain under-19 midfielder Mikel Merino

DORTMUND, Germany (AP) - Borussia Dortmund has signed Spain youth international Mikel Merino from Spanish second-tier side Osasuna.

The Bundesliga club says the 19-year-old Merino, a central midfielder, will join on July 1 after signing a contract through 2021 on Monday.

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc called Merino a "huge talent from the Spanish football school."

Merino has one goal in 22 appearances for Osasuna this season. He was part of the Spanish under-19 team that won the European Championship in 2015.
