West Aurora wins regional opener; Jacobs falls

Ashley Williams scored 18 points to lead West Aurora to a 42-35 win over Plainfield Central Monday night in the opening round of the Class 4A Yorkville girls basketball regional.

The Blackhawks (10-15) will take on Yorkville at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the semifinals.

DeKalb 38, Jacobs 35: Talia Surges had 14 points for Jacobs (10-17), which saw its season come to an end at the Class 4A Belvidere North regional.
