Roll out red carpet at 'The Envelope Please! The Academy Awards' Thursday

The St. Charles Public Library is rolling out the red carpet to get ready for the biggest, star-studded event of the year: the 2016 Oscars.

Join film critic Dann Gire, as he presents "The Envelope Please! The Academy Awards" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, in the St. Charles Public Library's Carnegie Community Room, 1 S. Sixth Ave.

Refreshments from Rocket Fizz in St. Charles and Kernel Gourmet Popcorn & More in Geneva will be served. Fill out an Oscar ballot for a chance to win prizes.

Gire, president of the Chicago Film Critics Association, will discuss what makes an Oscar-winning contender, and preview the 86th annual Academy Award nominees. Clips from potential winners such as "The Big Short," "Brooklyn," "The Martian" and "Spotlight" will be shown.

Registration is recommended for this free event. The St. Charles Library Foundation sponsors the popular Movie Series. For more information, visit www.st.charleslibrary.org or call (630) 584-0076.
