Get free help with FAFSA forms at Oakton Community College
Does completing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid make your head spin?
Filling out this form that helps current and prospective college students determine their eligibility for student financial aid can be made easier when meeting with Oakton professionals during FAFSA Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Feb. 26.
The free assistance with the completion of the FAFSA for the 2016-17 academic year is available in Room 1831 of the Des Plaines campus at 1600 E. Golf Road and in Room P235 of the Skokie campus, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave. No appointment is necessary.
Bring your 2015 W-2 forms and tax return (if available). A tax return does not have to be submitted to complete the FAFSA. Correct financial information may be entered after your tax return is completed. All information will remain private and confidential.
"There are a lot of myths about the FAFSA," said Oakton Financial Assistance Advisor Leslie Robinson. "FAFSA Fridays allow people to get their questions answered accurately on-site and have those myths dispelled. Filling out a FAFSA can seem overwhelming. We're happy to provide assistance so students and families don't have to do it on their own."
The FAFSA is used to determine need-based federal aid such as Pell grants and student loans, in addition to state aid, including Illinois' Monetary Award Program grants. For more information, contact the Enrollment Center at (847) 635-1700.
