Lake Zurich cops boost patrols after burglaries
Lake Zurich police say patrols have been increased in a section of the village where four burglaries have been reported in a little more than a month.
In general, Deputy Police Chief Kevin Finlon said Tuesday, the burglars have targeted electronics and jewelry in the houses on Lake Zurich's west side near Ela and Cubs roads.
Finlon said while police are investigating a possible pattern in the four burglaries in the past 45 days, additional patrols have been assigned to that area of the village. He urged residents to call police if they notice any suspicious vehicles or activity.
In the most recently received reports, a resident summoned police to the 1100 block of Berkshire Lane about 7 p.m. Feb. 5. The resident reported seeing his neighbor's door open.
Reports state investigating officers discovered a basement window had been forced in and the house had been ransacked. An inventory of exactly what was stolen is not yet available.
At roughly 7:40 p.m. Feb. 5, police said they received a report of a house in the 500 block of Braemar Lane that had been broken into through a basement window. Police said the house was ransacked, but it is not yet known what was stolen.
Finlon said Lake Zurich authorities urge residents to take precautions, such as locking their house and garage doors.
