Carmel's Street Scenes kicks off with free senior show

An audience of seniors was treated Sunday to a free sneak peek of this year's 42nd annual Carmel Street Scenes in Mundelein.

The one-hour show featured Carmel Catholic High School students performing in a dress rehearsal. It provided a small taste of the Street Scenes weekend festival.

This year's theme is "Carmel Street Scenes Toasts Mardi Gras," and the show runs Friday and Saturday, Feb. 12 and 13, at the high school, One Carmel Parkway. Doors will open at 6:30 each evening.

The event will have more than 50 live bands, food and drink, comedy showrooms and a Las Vegas-style casino in the school gymnasium with blackjack, poker, craps and other games. The annual fundraiser is open to the general public ages 21 and older.

One highlight will be the cabaret-style student show in the auditorium featuring a professionally choreographed performances with singing, dancing and costumes.

All proceeds benefit Carmel Catholic High School. For more information, visit www.carmelstreetscenes.com.
