Seeso streaming service caters to comedy nerds

Netflix, Hulu, Crackle, VUDU, YouTube, Amazon, iTunes ... do we need another streaming video service?

If you're a comedy nerd, the answer might be yes.

Enter Seeso, a new app from NBC Universal available on your PC, Android, iPhone and other platforms. You can log in with an email address or your Twitter or Facebook account to sample the offerings, or get full access for $3.99 a month.

What are the offerings? Along with original content, Seeso hosts classic comedy series from U.S. and U.K. airwaves. You can watch Tina Fey and Co. in "30 Rock," both incarnations of "The Office," groundbreaking episodes of "Monty Python's Flying Circus" and "The Kids in the Hall," highlights from every season of "Saturday Night Live" and much, much more. (I'm particularly interested in the British cult classic "The Young Ones," which briefly ran on MTV in my teenage years!)

Seeso also hosts clips from Jimmy Fallon's and Seth Meyers' late-night chat shows, as well as stand-up sets from the likes of Cameron Esposito and Matt Besser.

Speaking of Besser, he and his cohorts from the Upright Citizens Brigade - the theater troupe formed by Besser, now-superstar Amy Poehler, "Veep" star/former suburbanite Matt Walsh and Ian Roberts - appear in a Seeso original called "The UCB Show," picking up where the group's eponymous Comedy Central series left off. The world knows Poehler is a genius, and it's time they acknowledged the same of her comedy partners.

Seeso promises to soon be available on "all devices," and to provide live streams of standup performances. If comedy is your thing, it might be worth your while to add Seeso to your digital lineup - or cut Netflix and Hulu in favor of it.
