Indiana RV manufacturer to expand, create 65 jobs

SHIPSHEWANA, Ind. (AP) - Indiana economic development officials say a recreational vehicle manufacturer is spending $5.68 million to expand its operation in Shipshewana.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation announced Monday that Highland Ridge RV would create up to 65 new jobs by 2019. The state of Indiana offered Highland Ridge RV Inc. up to $675,000 in performance-based tax credits.

The company will spend the $5.68 million money to build and equip a 92,000-square-foot facility in Shipshewana. State officials say the company has outgrown that facility.

Highland Ridge RV makes towable RVs and is a subsidiary of Middlebury-based Jayco Inc. Ground is expected to be broken this spring. Construction is slated to be finished in September.

The company currently has more than 330 full-time workers. It will start hiring in August for the new positions.
