Larson, Grayslake Central roll past Crystal Lake Central

Amanda Larson poured in a game-high 22 points, knocking down three 3-pointers, and Grayslake Central's girls basketball team captured a 64-44 win over host Crystal Lake Central in Fox Valley Conference Fox Division action Saturday.

Lindsay Brust and Kelly Moroney added 8 points apiece for Grayslake Central (13-11, 9-2), which won its third game in a row and fifth in six games.

The Rams led 11-5 after one quarter and were up 32-19 at halftime and 52-31 after three.

Lakes 58, Glenbrook North 34: Ellie Haviland had 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals, as the Eagles captured the nonconference matinee.

Lakes (16-11) led 22-11 after the first quarter. Savannah Sikora added 10 points for the Eagles, Natalie Iacopetti tallied seven, and Mia Edwards contributed 7 points and 5 assists. Izzy Quaranta chipped in 7 rebounds and 7 assists.

"Good bounce-back game after a tough conference loss (to Antioch) last night." Lakes coach Brian Phelan said. "We shared the ball well and played solid defense today."

Lake Zurich 36, Wheeling 29: McKenna Zobel (19 points) and Abby Pirron (8) were top scorers in the nonconference game for the visiting Bears (14-9), who won for the eighth time in their last 10 games.

Wheeling (11-14) was led by Melissa Claver (7 points) and Kourtney Schuetz (6).

Libertyville 56, Deerfield 39: The host Wildcats, after giving up 18 points in the second quarter, limited visiting Deerfield to 8 in the both the third and fourth to claim a nonconference victory.

Claire Keefe (17 points) and Caroline Frea (15) led the scoring effort for Libertyville (13-10), and Molly Cayce made a pair of 3s and finished with 8 points.

Deerfield's Margot Sylvan had three 3s and led all scorers with 20 points.

"We did a nice job increasing our intensity on defense in the second half," said Libertyville coach Greg Pedersen.
