Man charged with killing Harrison couple withdraws plea

CORYDON, Ind. (AP) - One of two men charged in the 2013 slayings of a rural Harrison County couple has withdrawn his guilty pleas to two counts of murder.

The News and Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1SeqA5Q ) Austin Scott of New Albany appeared in court Thursday. He's accused in the slayings of 70-year-old Gary Henderson and 57-year-old Asenath "Senie" Arnold at the couple's home near New Salisbury, about 20 miles west of Louisville, Kentucky.

Scott was expected to plead guilty earlier this month but changed his mind, saying he had been pressured into a plea agreement. Under the deal, he was expected to be sentenced to life in prison without parole and avoid the death penalty.

Kevin Schuler of Greenville also is charged in the case. Both defendants were 18 at the time of the slayings.
