Greenfield man convicted of murder, neglect of daughter, 1

GREENFIELD, Ind. (AP) - A jury has found a central Indiana man guilty in the death of his 1-year-old daughter.

Matthew Wagoner of Greenfield was convicted Thursday and faces up to 65 years in prison for murder and 40 years for neglect when he's sentenced Feb. 24.

An autopsy report showed Zoey Wagoner died May 28 with a broken arm and a lacerated liver. Police say medical reports showed a pattern of abuse and that Zoey "had lived in hell for a year."

Text messages between Wagoner and his wife, Jessica, show they were concerned the Indiana Department of Child Services would become involved if they took Zoey to a hospital.

Jessica Wagner also faces murder and neglect charges. She faces a Feb. 22 trial date.

Greenfield is about 15 miles east of Indianapolis.
