Vertonghen ruled out with knee ligament damage

LONDON (AP) - Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen will be out of action for several weeks after damaging ligaments in his knee.

Tottenham says the Belgium international was injured during Saturday's Premier League game at Crystal Palace.

The London club says "further assessment & scans have confirmed that Jan Vertonghen sustained damage to his medial collateral ligament in his knee at Palace."

Vertonghen has played in every league game this season for Tottenham.
