Kane County

• A lawn sign outside a home on the 5N800 block of Arboretum Lane near St. Charles was damaged between 5 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. Saturday, according to a sheriff's report.

• A resident of the 3N900 block of Babson Lane near St. Charles reported a case of attempted identity theft at 2:31 p.m. Monday after receiving a letter in the mail from her bank that someone tried to open a credit card using her information, according to a sheriff's report.

West Dundee

• Alfonsette Xochihua-Madsen, 23, of the 800 block of Village Quarter Road, West Dundee, was charged Thursday with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to a news release from West Dundee police. About 6 p.m., officers responded to a car accident on West Main Street at South Eighth Street and took Xochihua-Madsen into custody after further investigation, police said. She posted $100 and her driver's license and was released. Her next court date is Feb. 24.
