Mainz signs defender Giulio Donati from Leverkusen

MAINZ, Germany (AP) - Mainz says it has signed defender Giulio Donati from Bundesliga rival Bayer Leverkusen.
The 25-year-old Italian signed a contract through mid-2019. Financial details weren't given.
Donati has played 43 Bundesliga matches for Leverkusen since 2013.
Leverkusen is fifth in the Bundesliga, Mainz is eighth.
