DVD previews: 'Goosebumps,' 'The Assassin'

Here's a look at DVDs coming out Tuesday, Jan. 26:

"Goosebumps" (PG, 103 minutes, Sony): Jack Black plays author R.L. Stine in this adventure-comedy based on Stine's popular "Goosebumps" series of YA horror novels. Contains fantasy action, scary images and some crude humor. 103 minutes. Extras include "Beginners Guide to Surviving a Goosebumps Creature," "Strange Things are Happening ... On-Set." Blu-ray adds alternate opening, alternate ending, deleted scenes, cast blooper reel, "All About Slappy," "Creaturefied!" and a casting gallery.

Also: "The Assassin" (martial arts drama that is Taiwan's Oscars submission for Best Foreign Language Film), "Black Mountain Side" (archaeologists uncover an ancient structure in Northern Canada), "A Brilliant Young Mind" (fact-based story of a teenage math prodigy), "Comin' at Ya!" (35th anniversary rerelease of Italian spaghetti Western), "Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise" (Tom Selleck reprises his role as a small-town police chief in the Robert B. Parker series), "The New Girlfriend" (French suspense drama about a cross-dressing widower and his relationship with his late wife's best friend), "Night Will Fall" (documentary about a 1945 British film detailing World War II German concentration camp atrocities that was shelved until 2014).

Television series: "Black Work" (three-part British mystery series), "Da Vinci's Demons: The Complete Third Season" (conclusion of the Starz historical fantasy series), "Downton Abbey: The Final Season" (sixth and final season of the top-rated PBS drama of all time), "French Village (Un village francais), Season Two" (French series chronicling the impact of World War II on a small village in central France), "Spiral (Engrenages): Season 5" (acclaimed French police series).
