Report: Teen killed after hit by car while trying to cross Edens Expressway

A 19-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle as he was trying to run across the Edens Expressway near Skokie Boulevard early Wednesday morning, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

The teen was in a vehicle with three other people that had stopped on the left shoulder of I-94 at about 12:45 a.m., the Chicago Tribune is reporting.

It's likely the vehicle had run out of gas, the Tribune is reporting.

The teen left the vehicle and was trying to cross the highway when he was hit, the Tribune reports.

He was taken to Evanston Northshore University Hospital and pronounced dead at 1:20 a.m.
