Railroad bridge work continues in Gurnee

A portion of Old Grand Avenue in Gurnee will remain closed at least until Wednesday, Jan. 27, to allow for maintenance on a railroad bridge crossing.

The Canadian Pacific Railroad is performing the work, village officials said. The project has required an entire closure of Old Grand Avenue between O'Plaine Road and North 1st Street to ensure the safety of the public and provide Canadian Pacific work crews access to the site.

During the construction, traffic on Old Grand Avenue has been directed toward Route 132/Grand Avenue.
