The Arlington Heights Citizen Police Academy is an 11-week program held in a night class setting at the Arlington Heights Police Department. The academy provides hands-on experiences and practical insights into the everyday operations and specialized services provided by the Arlington Heights Police Department.

The academy includes classroom lessons, open discussions, multimedia presentations, live demonstrations and practical exercises in all facets of police work ranging from patrol operations and traffic law enforcement to criminal investigations, forensic sciences and crime prevention techniques.

The academy is provided free to all residents and business leaders of Arlington Heights in both spring and fall annual sessions.

The spring session of this year's academy class is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 8, and runs the following 11 consecutive Tuesday evenings through May 17. Each class regularly meets between 7 and 10 p.m., at the Arlington Heights Police Department. The class is exclusively reserved for village residents and business employees and is provided free to all applicants. As seats for each academy class are limited, applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
