The academy includes classroom lessons, open discussions, multimedia presentations, live demonstrations and practical exercises in all facets of police work ranging from patrol operations and traffic law enforcement to criminal investigations, forensic sciences and crime prevention techniques.
The academy is provided free to all residents and business leaders of Arlington Heights in both spring and fall annual sessions.
The spring session of this year's academy class is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 8, and runs the following 11 consecutive Tuesday evenings through May 17. Each class regularly meets between 7 and 10 p.m., at the Arlington Heights Police Department.
