Student engineers compete for best 'bot at Naperville robotics tourney
A few hundred young robot operators spent Saturday crowded into the gym at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, competing in a game called “Nothing But Net” as they aimed to throw balls into targets and lift other robots to victory.
The competition was part of the third annual WiredCats VEX Robotics Tournament, and it drew teams from schools across the region to test the machines they've built, tested and perfected.
Teams at the high school and middle school level progressed out of a round of qualifying matches into a single-elimination tournament during the daylong event.
For the best bots, the tournament could be a practice round for later competitions at the state, national or even world level.
