Indianapolis police say suspect dead after medical emergency
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indianapolis authorities say a domestic violence suspect in custody died in the back of an ambulance after a medical emergency.
Police say officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance around 9 p.m. Thursday. A teenage female victim of domestic violence allegedly directed police to the suspect and another alleged victim, her mother. Medical crews tended to them and police arrested the suspect on a domestic battery charge.
Police say the suspect complained of chest pain. After another ambulance arrived, police say the suspect went into "critical cardiac arrest" and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two females were hospitalized and listed in good condition.
Authorities say they're looking at the suspect's death as an "in-custody death investigation."
The Marion County Coroner's Office is expected to perform an autopsy.
