Former Vandy player Marve to coach Commodores' linebackers

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Vanderbilt has promoted one of its leading tacklers in school history by naming Chris Marve its linebackers coach.

The school announced the move Friday. Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason said in a statement that Marve "is an ideal fit to guide our linebackers."

Marve had worked as a graduate assistant focusing on linebackers in 2015 after contributing as a quality control assistant in 2014.

Marve was a four-year starting linebacker at Vanderbilt from 2008-11. The two-time captain recorded 397 career tackles to rank eighth on the school's all-time list. His 28 career tackles for loss rank ninth in school history.

Mason said "there's a great deal of respect for Chris on this campus from his playing days."
