Bartlett man admits selling cocaine

A 24-year-old Bartlett man pleaded guilty to two counts of manufacturing and delivering cocaine Thursday.

In exchange for his guilty plea, William Oliver was sentenced to six years in prison, with a recommendation for the Illinois Department of Corrections Impact Incarceration Program, commonly known as boot camp.

Prosecutors say Oliver sold seven grams of cocaine for $300 to an undercover police officer on Feb. 21, 2015, after agreeing to the transaction via text message. He sold the same amount of drugs for the same price again on March 3, 2015, prosecutors said.

Boot camp is available to offenders under 35 who receive sentences of less than eight years. Defendants can reduce their sentences upon successful completion of the program. However, if a defendant fails to fulfill all the program requirements, he or she must serve the original sentence.

Oliver was also ordered to pay $2,697 in fines.
