Palatine High School choir sings at White House

The Palatine High School jazz choir group, Midnight Blues, performed for White House visitors on Sunday, Dec. 20.

During their two, one-hour segments in the White House foyer opposite the Blue Room where the President's official indoor Christmas tree is displayed, the group performed traditional holiday favorites, as well as other well-known songs such as "America the Beautiful," and even a song from "The Lion King."

The group of 29 students, under the direction of Palatine High School Choir Director Steve Sivak, followed the performance with a tour of the White House. They also spent several days taking in the sights of Washington, D.C., including visits to the Smithsonian museums, tour of the monuments, and a trip to Arlington National Cemetery where they sang the national anthem and participated in the Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The choir also performed at the Lincoln Memorial.
