Southern Illinois man working under pickup crushed by truck

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A man has died after being crushed by a pickup truck he was working underneath at a repair shop in southern Illinois.

The Washington County Coroner's Office has identified the man as 50-year-old David Martin of Addieville.

Coroner Mark Styninger says the man was working on a small pickup at a shop in Okawville Friday when a jack slipped and the truck fell.

The Belleville News-Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/1RswuzG ) that Martin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Styninger says Martin died of asphyxiation due to chest trauma.
