Buffalo Grove Starbucks OK'd for beer, wine sales

The Buffalo Grove Starbucks, 1205 W. Dundee Road, has gotten an OK from the village board to sell beer and wine.

This Starbucks is one of several in the Chicago area selected to try the new "Starbucks evenings" concept, where customers can buy beer, wine and "small plate" food in the afternoon and early evening hours.

Alcohol sales will start at 2 p.m.

Community Development Director Christopher Stilling said customers at first will be able to drink alcohol only inside the stores and not on the patio. That may change if Starbucks fences in its patio, preventing people from roaming the area with alcoholic beverages.

This type of liquor license is called a Class E.
