Metra train, car collide in Palatine

Traffic near the Metra line in Palatine was tied up for several hours on Wednesday afternoon after a train hit a car, officials said.

The Palatine Fire Department responded to the accident between the Metra Union Pacific Northwest train and a vehicle on Plum Grove Road north of Palatine Road around 3:30 p.m., according to a news release.

A woman in the car suffered minor injures and was treated at the scene, the release said. No one on the Metra train was injured.

Palatine police, Rolling Meadows firefighters and representatives from Metra and Union Pacific Railroad also assisted at the scene.
