Exhibit of art by actor Anthony Quinn extended in Chicago

CHICAGO (AP) - An exhibition of art by Academy Award-winning actor Anthony Quinn is being extended by a museum of Greek culture in Chicago.

The exhibit, called "Transcending Boundaries: The Art of Anthony Quinn," will now extend into 2016 at the National Hellenic Museum.

Quinn was American and his ancestral roots were in Mexico and Ireland, not Greece. But he was closely linked to his leading role in the 1964 movie Zorba the Greek. He died in 2001 at age 86.

The exhibition at the museum in the Greektown neighborhood features over 80 Quinn paintings and sculptures.

Museum Executive Director Elizabeth Martin says the response to Quinn's work has been "spectacular." She says the exhibition will remain through spring, though several large pieces will only be on display for a few more weeks.
