Sheriff's office says Elgin evictee made bomb threat

Authorities say an Elgin man made a bomb threat Tuesday morning as they were trying to evict him from a house.

Pitor Dutkiewicz, 51, is charged with disorderly conduct and threatening a public official after authorities say he walked out of the house, placed a large battery with wires taped to it on the ground and said "bomb," according to a Kane County sheriff's office news release.

Kane County deputies were serving Dutkiewicz with court-ordered eviction papers about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at a residence on the 600 block of Forest Avenue.

A member of the department's bomb squad responded to the house and determined the suspicious device wasn't a bomb, authorities said.

Dutkiewicz was immediately taken into custody, and his ex-girlfriend left the home without incident.
