North Chicago man charged in Christmas shooting

A North Chicago man has been charged in the early Christmas morning shooting near Lake Bluff that injured two men and a woman, authorities announced Tuesday.

Saladine A. McKinney, 23, who authorities say is a gang member, was charged Monday with one count of aggravated battery with a firearm, one count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and two counts of aggravated unlawful discharge of a firearm.

He previously had been identified by investigators as one of several persons of interest in the shooting, which took place about 1:30 a.m. Dec. 25 outside Nardo's BBQ Bar & Grill, at 5 N. Skokie Highway in an unincorporated area near Lake Bluff.

According to the Lake County sheriff's office, a heated argument began inside the bar involving multiple people before the fight moved outside and multiple shots were fired.

The three people injured all survived.

McKinney's bail was set at $250,000 during a court hearing Tuesday. He is being held at the Lake County jail and is due in court again Jan. 28.
