New Woodland Foundation director

Gurnee-based Woodland Educational Foundation officials announced Tuesday that Kate Weidner has been named new executive director. Weidner comes to the foundation with nonprofit management experience, having served as director of programs with the Raleigh, North Carolina, Girl Scout Council. Most recently, she developed a nonprofit agency to create community and educational opportunities for Indiana adoptive families. "I am thrilled to work with such a great group of educators and volunteers," Weidner said. The foundation, established in 2006, benefits students at Woodland Elementary District 50. The foundation distributes money to enrich and enhance the opportunities of educational experiences of District 50 students.
