Full efforts results in a Barrington winner

Barrington girls basketball coach Babbi Barreiro has been telling her Fillies two things were necessary to create good results.

"We needed to get everyone involved in the offense and we had to play for four full quarters," she said.

Both happened on Tuesday night at the Jean Walker Field House in Mt. Prospect.

And the Fillies got a good win, 63-57 in a Mid-Suburban League crossover contest against defending East champion Prospect.

Senior Kelly Katis scored 15 of her game-high 21 points in the second half as the Fillies improved to 6-9.

Senior Megan Talbot added 15 points and 10 rebounds while classmate Abigail Elo also reached double figures with 10 points.

"I liked that we had three players in double figures," Barreiro added. "That balance scoring really helped.

"Megan and Kelly had really strong games. And I was really happy with our free throw shooting (25-of-28)."

Katis was 11-of-13 from the line while Talbot made 5-of-6 and Elo 4-of-4.

Teammates Auri Grayson chipped in 8 points and Claire Collier 6.

"I thought Kelly made really smart decisions with the basketball," Barreiro added. "And Megan played a really nice game in the post. They (Prospect) made her work real hard."
