Players join Barcelona, Atletico as transfer window opens

MADRID (AP) - New players have joined Barcelona and Atletico Madrid as the January transfer window opened in Spain.

Barcelona says 10,000 fans turned out to watch its squad train and welcome midfielder Arda Turan and defender Aleix Vidal, who signed in 2015 but had to wait until Monday to be registered because of a FIFA-imposed ban.

The only players unable to train were the injured Sergi Roberto and Rafinha, with fans able to cheer Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Neymar, Andres Iniesta and coach Luis Enrique.

Atletico presented Matias Kranevitter to fans at the Vicente Calderon Stadium, where the defensive midfielder described team coach and fellow Argentine Diego Simeone as "a winner."
