Try out Taylor Family YMCA's STEPS Academy this week

The Taylor Family YMCA's STEPS Academy offers quality instruction for children ages 2 and up in various genres including: ballet, modern, hip-hop, jazz, tumbling, poms, tap, company dance, adult tap, boys only hip-hop/tumbling, as well as the "Move-U" company dance group which performs at nursing homes, the YMCA's annual charity gala, and other local events.

Class enrollment will close in February as preparations for the annual June recital will be in full swing. To meet the growing needs in the community, the Y's STEPS Academy continually adds to the dance program offerings.

Free trial classes are offered the first week in January (Thursday and Saturday), with five new classes to kick off 2016.

The Y's STEPS Academy endeavors to keep registration and costume fees reasonable in the spirit of the YMCA's mission.

Taylor Family YMCA's STEPS instructors have diverse, current, and intensive dance training. They are backbone of student success in more than just a dance education.

This past year, under the direction of choreographer and instructor Tristan DeVries, the hip-hop team took first place in the open dance category and first in their all-around division. In 2016, Move-U will be competing both jazz and hip-hop at various local competitions.

STEPS Academy proudly stands under the YMCA core values of "caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility." Instructors use this in classroom instruction, song choice, and costume selection.
