Based on my 13 years as County Board member and as Chairwoman I have the experience needed to provide the leadership and management abilities needed in developing the Recorders Budget, and working proactively with the County Board. Most important is accurately recording documents, customer service and timeliness. Finally, my 17 years of experience as a Legislative Aid uniquely qualifies me with a broad perspective of the state statutes that govern the Recorder's office and County. Government, and of State resources that can benefit McHenry County and the Recorders Office.If you expect to ask for an increase in appropriations during the next four years, what areas would you want to put more money into?I recognized the need to keep the County rate flat and I will carry that over to the Recorder's office. Not only can the budget of $2.6M in the General Fund Budget and $742,600 In the County Recorder Automation Fund Budget I will be looking for opportunities to find additional savings after a review of processes and employee count. The office has 25 employees now. With retirements and further digitizing the office, those savings can be realized. If the County's growth has continued trending downward there will be fewer documents to process.List any of your relatives (including those related to you by marriage, and nieces/nephews) who are on the public payroll in Illinois, their jobs and who they work for.My husband Alan works for the Secretary of State's office and my brother in law by marriage works in a county position removed from the Recorders Office.Describe your position on transparency in the office and the ease of access to records by the public. If you believe improvements are needed, what are they and how would you go about achieving them?I have always been a champion of transparency and the County won theSunshine Award consecutive years under my leadership as Chairwoman of Management Services. I led the way for showing our checkbook online and live streaming of our meetings. One of my goals for my final year on the Board is to implement live video feed and electronic voting on the Board floor. Have you ever been appointed to fill an unexpired term?I have a proven record of Servant Leadership to the public. As Chairwoman of the Board I represented the County to CMAP (Chicago Metropolitan Agency on Planning and METRO Counties which consisted of the Collar Counties and Counties around St. Louis. I am an elected Precinct Committeemen from 2000 - present. I was elected to the County Board 2002-present and lost one County Board race in 1992. Elected as Chairwoman for two years.What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?I believe the most important mission for the people's government with trained customer service which I instigated in the Planning and Development Dept. Another issue was perceive favoritism. I believe this is what led to the push to unionize the office. A consultant was even hired to try to correct the tension in the office. I have a reputation of consensus building and working well with others.
