Burglar thwarted at Des Plaines barbershop
A man tried to break into a Des Plaines business Sunday by shattering a window pane on the front door, but he was thwarted by the door's deadbolt lock, officials said Tuesday.
According to a Des Plaines police news release, a nearby security camera captured footage of a light-skinned man who police believe smashed the window at Hair Emporium, a barbershop at 630 W. Algonquin Road. The footage shows the man drive up to the business in a newer-model black hatchback with chrome wheels, get out of the car and approach the store while carrying something in his hands.
How the man broke the window was not captured by the camera because it was out of frame, but police have footage of the would-be burglar walking back to his vehicle and driving away.
