2016 countdown also for kids in Chicago

CHICAGO (AP) - Countdowns to 2016 aren't just for adults.

The "Family Countdown Celebration" will be held at Wrigley Square in Chicago's Millennium Park on New Year's Eve. There will also be activity stations at the event featuring New Year's customs from countries worldwide.

Among the participants are the Trinity Irish Dancers, the Balzekas (bahl-ZAY'-kas) Museum of Lithuanian Culture and the Philippine American Cultural Foundation.

The free event is a joint project of the groups - the Chicago Cultural Mile and Chi-Town Rising. It all begins at 3 p.m. on New Year's Eve, with a "Kids Countdown Spectacular" at 6 p.m.
