AT&T recognizes Lazarus House with Investing in Illinois Award

Lazarus House won an AT&T "Investing in Illinois Award" for its nonprofit work to help people in Illinois.

Lazarus House will receive $1,000 from AT&T to be used to provide emergency shelter, transitional housing, and homeless prevention services to those in crisis.

"There are great nonprofit organizations improving lives in Illinois. By supporting these organizations, we're strengthening the communities we serve," said Jaci Kator, external affairs manager, AT&T.

State Sen. Karen McConnaughay nominated Lazarus House for the recognition from AT&T Illinois. The AT&T "Investing in Illinois Awards" provide resources and recognition to organizations and programs that improve lives in their communities and the state. They are advancing education, economic growth, new technologies and other essential community services.

The company also highlighted Digital You, its new resource to help tech beginners of all ages. It helps them with the basics of using a smartphone or tablet, keeping online information private and secure. It also helps users with disabilities activate accessibility features through training resources and tip sheets.

Digital You offers Digital Compass, a free interactive game developed by Common Sense, to teach 6- 9th graders about the real-world impact of their online choices. For information on the resources available, visit digitalyou.att.com.

Through its community initiatives, AT&T Inc. invests in projects that create learning opportunities, promote academic and economic achievement, or address community needs. In 2014, nearly $127 million was contributed or directed through corporate-, employee-, social investment- and AT&T Foundation-giving programs.
